Heather Heitzenrater grew up in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, where a love of science fiction and fantasy first sparked her fascination with other worlds, portals, and transformation. Now based in Pittsburgh, she creates paintings that feel like thresholds—spaces where the human figure meets reflective Mylar, bending light and color into shifting, liquid-silver abstractions. These mirrored surfaces distort reality much like memory or imagination, blurring the line between what is seen and what is felt. Exhibited nationally in museums and galleries, Heather’s work invites viewers to linger at the edge of the familiar and step into something quietly otherworldly.
