Thomas Gibson is a fine art photographer whose work bridges historic photographic processes with contemporary mixed-media techniques. Trained at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, he developed a strong foundation in concept-driven imagery shaped by an early career in the entertainment and music industries—an influence that continues to inform his distinctive visual storytelling. He now works from his studio in Grove City, Pennsylvania.
Thomas’s practice is rooted in a deep fascination with vintage tintypes—their warm tonal qualities, the tactile presence of metal plates, and the beautiful unpredictability created by antique lenses. These characteristics form the basis of many of his major bodies of work. His process often combines the use of vintage cameras and tintypes with modern digital photography, manipulation, painting, and drawing, resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces and thoughtfully crafted limited-edition series.
