Pamela J. Black
Pamela J. Black approaches painting as both an act of translation and a form of quiet meditation. Working primarily with acrylics, watercolors, and water-based drawing tools, she transforms the constant motion of her thoughts into layered, abstract worlds on canvas. Her compositions live in the tension between chaos and control—energetic yet balanced—reflecting a process rooted in experimentation, intuition, and reflection.
Pam’s path as an artist is grounded in both formal training and teaching. She earned her BFA from Kutztown University in 2007 and later completed a Master’s in Education while teaching art for five years, an experience that deepened her understanding of creative practice as both discipline and exploration. Over the past decade, she has worked full-time from her studio in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, building a body of work that has been exhibited in galleries across the country.
Beyond the studio, her paintings have expanded into public space through large-scale murals throughout Central Pennsylvania, including projects at Strawberry Square in Harrisburg, Ever Grain Farms in Mechanicsburg, and Wild Rabbit in New Cumberland. Whether on canvas or across a wall, Pam’s work invites viewers into moments of movement, stillness, and subtle harmony—places where complexity softens into something quietly human.
